EVOLUTION upgrade to an SPBS-R system

How It Works for Your Mission

EVOLUTION brings you a re-designed solution for the maintenance of the SPBS-R -based Property Accountability Mission currently in use the Army, Reserve, and National Guard.  

This new concept is based entirely on usage maximization of hardware resources already widely available at every Property Book installation in the Army and in the National Guard.   It uses the intranet of the Unit as the means of making available SPBS-R terminals.   What this means is that you can have a complete SPBS-R installation servicing up to 24 concurrent users with the addition of a single piece of hardware, the VirtuOS Server.  A Copy of a special piece of software is installed in any Windows® workstation from where your customers require access to SPBS-R.  When the user at the workstation needs to get into SPBS-R, a simple click on the Special Telnet Icon is all it takes to get user connected to the server.   The connection behaves just like that of the legacy dumb terminal with respect to the SPBS-R system.

In 2002, Evolution started implementing the concept of multiple property books in a single server.  This setup allows you to minimize costs while improving overall systems management and upkeep requirements, making Asset Visibility and Unit Readiness Assessments easy and up-to-the-minute. 

Additionally, this setup allows you and your customers to gain access to SPBS-R through dial-up connections and any other means of remote connection made available by your post Network Administrator to the Unit’s Intranet such as the special DoD VPN Client added to notebook computers allowing access to SPBS-R anywhere the Internet is available.  In Summer 2003, Evolution's SPBS-R customers can contract hardware and software upgrades which will allow secure wireless access to the internet and SPBS-R through cellular packet data services.

Evolution has successfuly demonstrated the capability of its upgraded platforms in handling multiple property books in a single server.  In support of the accountability and logistics mission, we have integrated ULLS-S4 in the same VirtuOS-based operating environment, affording unit-level users of ULLS-S4 the same high-power benefits as SPBS-R.

  This solution accomplishes all this while providing you, the property book officer, with multiple levels of security which allow control of exactly who has access to what types of operations in SPBS-R .
